Summary

Show graphs on user profiles (for just yourself, or for any user) summarizing daily/weekly/monthly/yearly data, similar to Strava or Garmin

Motivation

One of the premium features you get with Strava is more detailed graphs/analysis of activity progress, totals by day/week/month/year for distance, elevation, duration, etc. I'd love to be able to see all that data in Endurain. This is what would make it worthwhile to me to spend the time to import all my historic running data from Garmin (and back to RunKeeper when I started using that 12 years ago).

Proposed Solution

  • On the profile, have a new tab next to Activities/Followers/Following called "Reports".
  • In the "Reports" tab:
    • Show a checkbox list (on the side or as a dropdown) to select "All" or only certain activity types.
    • Show a date range picker, with a minimum date of the account's first activity, maximum date of today. Show presets of "this year", "this month", etc
    • Show a select or radio button to select between daily/weekly/monthly data
    • Show a select to pick between distance, duration, elevation, and any other stat we have access to.
    • Show a bar graph with the selected data displayed.
      • RunKeeper switches from a bar graph to a line chart when the data is too dense. Strava shows a line chart for weekly mileage (see first image below). So some combinations may look better as different graphs.
    • Not all of these toggles/options need to be implemented all at once. An initial graph of weekly mileage for the last 12 months could be a starting point for this feature

Alternatives

N/A

Additional Context

Here are some of the graphs that I like from Strava, Garmin, and RunKeeper

Strava's graph showing weekly mileage totals, for either all activities or just one type of activity Image
Garmin showing monthly totals over the course of a year, with the option of seeing distance, ascent, duration totals Image
RunKeeper, showing monthly lifetime mileage for one or all activity types. Showing total duration is a premium feature. Can also view by day or week (though looking at 12 years for anything finer-grained than month is too many data points and is very slow) Image
RunKeeper, showing custom date ranges Image
