make-dist now packs config/gitversion info and public/source.tar. with the tarball. All Fedora specific files moved out of the tarball's install area. 'links' command warns for non-existing targets. Minor bugfixes. Overall, at this point the application could be seen as "packageable". The two main problem has been the included git files, and that root could not own the files. These are now resolved. In other words, the overall structure in comptatible with Fedora, and thus also with most other repos like Ubuntu et al. The bundle package is another issue. It's a long way before it can be accepted into Fedora. First step would be to use already packaged gems instead of providing our own copy for each and every gem.

We are continuing to build features and improve the code base. When we think it is ready for general use, we will post more final instructions.
Commit Guidelines
You are welcome to contribute, add to and extend Diaspora however you see fit. We will do our best to incorporate everything that meets our guidelines.
Please make your changes on a topic branch in your repo and submit your pull request from there, so that commits you don't want to submit aren't included.
Please do not rebase our tree into yours. See here for when to rebase.
All commits must be tested, and all your tests should be green before a pull request is sent. Please write your tests in Rspec.
GEMS: We would like to keep external dependencies unduplicated. We're using Nokogiri, Mongomapper, and EM::HttpRequest as much as possible. We have a few gems in the project we'd rather not use, but if you can, use dependencies we already have.
We need you to fill out a contributor agreement form before we can accept your patches. The agreement gives Diaspora joint ownership of the patch so the copyright isn't scattered. You can find it here.
