Replace c.response with pylons.response.
...
pylons.response is its own StackedObjectProxy and returning response
objects from controllers is deprecated so returning c.response is bad.
In many cases, this transition just involves returning content from the
controller directly rather than doing c.response.content = ___. This
will make the transition to Pylons 0.9.7 easier because WebOb's response
object doesn't have a content property and works differently.

Fix failed searches of just parentheses
...
If the query were just parentheses, like ")(",
l2cs.convert would return an empty string, causing
the subsequent search to fail. This moves the empty
query check later in the code to avoid that issue.

stats: Another attempt at fixing the race condition in flushing.

It appears that sometimes multiple threads are flushing the same dict at
the same time. Yikes! This should fix that without double counting.

reddit_base: Fix incorrect "abort" import.
...
This was causing the fancy abort(SomeExceptionClass) style aborts to
fail because the pylons abort function didn't support that.
